Why I Treat Children

I think I’m just drawn to children; they’ve done nothing wrong to lead to any of their illnesses. I think that’s a really easy group to take care of, and one that gives a lot of satisfaction when I’m able to help them. I also really like working with parents — working with them to guide and reassure them. That really goes miles towards helping parents care for their children. I definitely enjoy being able to connect with a whole family and helping them through their child’s illness.

What I'm Passionate About

I’m passionate about early childhood development and intervention — care that can help children’s special needs be identified earlier, and get into services that can help a child be successful sooner. My top priority is making sure that I do the very best for a child, and that parents understand my thinking and why things are happening.I also love the continuity of care I can give to families. I love being able to see children grow, and being able to follow them over time. I like learning who the children are, who their families are, and watching children grow and develop, both from a medical and a social-emotional perspective.

How I Try to Make A Difference

I really value the education and training of new physicians, the academic aspect of medicine. I want to stay involved with teaching residents —the formal training, and also modeling ways of teaching, talking to parents and offering guidance.
