Gabriel: Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia

Gabriel was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) on the last day of the fourth grade. He had been having pain and nausea, and was very tired. Considered high-risk because of a chromosomal issue, Gabriel required the most intense treatment and for longer than most children — three years. He missed 97 days of school after his diagnosis.

Now 13, Gabriel's last chemotherapy treatment was September 22, 2014. He will be monitored monthly for one year. While he has been playing some sports like volleyball while undergoing treatment, he's excited to get back to contact sports like football soon. When he enters high school next year, he wants to try out for junior varsity football.
